Family

What is a "normal" family? Who decides what "normal" is? I believe every family has their quirks this is what makes each family unique and interesting.

Time out

So I've been talking a lot lately to my two year old son about the choices he makes.  If he chooses to make good decisions good things happen and if he chooses to make bad decisions there are consequences to them. He has to sit in time out or he loses something that he values. My husband and I are involved in a small group with our church and I our first chapter in our study book last night.  It really hit home...The book was talking about choices.  Are we choosing to spend time with God each day?  Life for me seems busier now than it ever has been and I feel that we live a pretty simple life.  Am I making the right choice?  I have not been spending time with God each day; I am always finding other things that "need" to be done.  When in actuality I NEED God and by not fulfilling my need I am not well equipped to meet the needs of my family.  This, like I tell my son, is a bad choice...I think I need a time out.

Facebook

Although I am a facebook user I am not as active on it as some.  I do use it to keep up with friends and family that do not live close and that is about it. The generation that is growing up today, it seems has a technology overload.  I've yet to see a teen that is without their cell phone which usually gives them a text to keep them up on the latest and greatest on facebook.  I was watching a children's show on PBS today with my 2 year old son and the characters were in a contest and they had to text the person that was in charge when they'd completed their task.  I was shocked to see a children's show talking about texting!  What have we come to?  Who knows what it will be like when my children are teenagers...Facebook will probably be "out" and something else will be "in". I would hope that I will have instilled in my children the importance of face to face interaction with another human being rather than constantly hiding behind a computer or cell phone to secretly search out others.
Oh, and yes, I am "friends" with my parents.  :)
